Blogging Is For Sissies: Fine…Where Is My Pacifier? September 11, 2008

How does blogging make you feel when you get response from your readers? Call me an ole sap, but I couldn’t help but share the powerful emotional connection I have found from it. You might not have been blogging for an extremely long time or you might not even blog at all. That doesn’t mean you can’t find yourself getting choked up because you might have helped someone in some way by what you found, wrote, or said verbally.
My parents taught me very young that you get more from giving without asking for anything in return than any other way. That holds true from a personal or a business level. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve helped a friend do something that was important to them, and was blessed in return. Many people I’ve spoken to have voiced their opinion about blogging, and some have said it is too personal or they don’t want criminals stalking them. Blogging is as personal as you make it, and you are the moderator that has the last say. I recently found a post from a blogger who has gone through some tough times, yet he still gives without any avail. Blogging not only brings us closer to other people, but it also brings us closer to ourselves if you write from your heart.
My challenge to you is to give to someone today that is in need of help. That could be through your blog, helping a neighbor by setting the trash out by the road, or maybe something as simple as letting someone over while in traffic. If you are thinking about blogging, give it your all…you might be surprised at what comes back to you.
when i get comments from someone i look up to i do backflips….ok not really but i do feel like cheering or something.
Hey, well get me my binky, blankie, and snuggles. I hear similar from people all the time but most have never even tried it or read a blog, just heard about them. So I show them mine and then they are like OOHHHHH. To me this is another way to stay in touch with others without having to call each and every single person and repeating the samething to all of them, and then getting into a 20-30 minute conversation with all of them when you really didn’t have the time to do it at that time. Of course I wouldn’t use this to replace talking to those around me but it does help get the iupdates and information to all of them. And yea I sometimes read blogs and get inspired to keep on pushing and moving forword with things, kind of helps to lift my spirits at times. Keep on bloggin and reaching those you wouldn’t have been able to reach without bloggin.
Your post describes the “hidden” value of sharing your ideas and your self, that an instructor can’t really describe to you. You have to experience it in your own way and respond in your own way. But when someone new discovers this wonderful process, all the efforts to facilitate the process become a joy.
Great comments everyone.
I am just thankful I found this connection now and not thirty years from now or never at all. You’re right, Wayne. Everyone has their own personal way of learning, expression, and participation.
I am personally not a big blogger, but blogging is a form of communication, and I know that many find it easier to write than express themselves verbally. I don’t really blog much, but with those I do share I do value its importnace.
This is a nice blog, it makes blogging worthwhile:)
